After being inspired initially by the shadows she saw in the grasses of trees, she worked for months in developing a process that does not portray the subject in a 2-dimensional image. The image has been transformed to it's own representation which is based its interpretation from the artist. This works best when working with living things or items that are perishable such as fruits or people. The style that Alexa paints is very ephemeral. Only the photographs of her work survive. Trompe l'oeil is achieved using the two processes of photography and painting. It creates a flattened, two dimensional picture. Meade occasionally integrates painted models in the space surrounding them. They are able to be part of the world she has created. By doing so, Meade is able to blur the lines between painting, photography and performance.
